Dr. Hernandez earned his bachelor and doctor of medical dentistry degrees from the University of Florida. He entered private practice with his father and expanded the practice to include three locations throughout South Florida: Hialeah Dental Group, Biscayne Dental Group and Town & Country Family Dental.

How Can I Prevent Cavities?

To help prevent cavities, schedule regular teeth cleaning appointments, floss at least once a day, and always spend three minutes brushing your teeth. This period of time will rid your mouth of the bacteria that destroys your tooth enamel. However, do not brush too hard. It only takes a small amount of pressure to remove plaque and bacteria from teeth. In addition, watch your sugar intake and brush your teeth, or rinse out your mouth, after every meal.

There are many different diseases of the teeth and surrounding tissues which cannot be identified in a teeth cleaning appointment. X-rays can reveal the following: tumors, cysts, abscesses, developmental abnormalities, infections in the bone, and small areas of decay between the teeth or below existing fillings. X-rays allow dentists to find and treat dental problems early on in order to save patients time, money and unnecessary discomfort.
